Sunshine Orange Pie Recipe. Perfect for winter gatherings with tea (you can still buy oranges from us in winter), but nothing prevents you from preparing it in summer. Great for kid’s parties and birthdays. And what is important, such a cake is prepared very quickly.

Prep.: 45 minutes  Cooking time: 1 hour 10 minutes  Servings: 1 pie



For the pie:

  • 125 g butter
  • One tablespoon finely grated orange peel
  • One cup of sugar
  • Three eggs
  • One and a quarter cup flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped pistachio nuts (optional but tastier with them)
  • One orange, peeled, thinly sliced
  • Whipped cream for serving

Orange Syrup:

  • Half cup of sugar
  • Half glass of orange juice



Step 1:

Preheat oven to 160°C / 140°C with convection on (if available). Grease a baking dish with oil, put baking paper around the edges and on the bottom.
Step 2:

Using an electric mixer, beat butter, orange zest and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and flour to the resulting mixture, beat well. Pour the resulting mixture into the prepared baking dish, make the top of the dough smooth and place the slices of thinly sliced ​​orange on top.

Step 3:

Bake the cake for one hour and ten minutes until the match inserted into the cake comes out clean.
Step 4:

While the cake is baking, prepare the orange syrup. Combine sugar, 1/4 cup cold water and orange juice in a saucepan.

Cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves, then reduce the heat and simmer for 8-10 minutes until the syrup thickens.

Step 5:

Serve the finished pie with whipped cream and orange syrup. Happy tea!

You can keep the orange pie in the freezer for up to a month by wrapping it in plastic wrap and placing it in an airtight container. Pirg thaws overnight at room temperature.
